Application of Ganzkuhl PDRC Coating at Aalankrita Resorts

Introduction

Aalankrita Resorts, located in Hyderabad, India, is a premier destination known for its lush greenery, luxurious accommodations, and serene ambiance, catering to leisure travellers and event organizers. Established as a hallmark of hospitality, the resort features expansive outdoor and indoor spaces, including concrete slab structures used for event venues and guest facilities.

Q Gen-Next Sustainable Technology Pvt. Ltd., the developer of Ganzkuhl®, specializes in innovative, eco- friendly solutions to reduce energy consumption and enhance environmental sustainability. Their flagship product, Ganzkuhl® PDRC Coating, is a ceramic-based Passive Daylight Radiative Cooling coating designed to reflect up to 98.6% of solar heat, significantly lowering surface temperatures while providing waterproofing benefits.

Need for Coating

Aalankrita Resorts faced challenges with excessive heat on their concrete slab structures, particularly in open-air event venues and guest areas exposed to direct sunlight. During peak summer conditions, these surfaces became extremely hot, leading to discomfort for guests and staff, as well as increased energy costs for cooling indoor spaces adjacent to these slabs. The resort sought a sustainable solution to mitigate heat absorption, improve guest comfort, and reduce reliance on energy-intensive cooling systems. Ganzkuhl® PDRC Coating was identified as an ideal solution to address these issues.

Pre-Coating Temperature Readings

Prior to applying Ganzkuhl® PDRC Coating, temperature measurements were conducted on the concrete slab surfaces during peak summer conditions. The recorded surface temperatures ranged from 65°C to 66°C, indicating significant heat absorption, which contributed to an uncomfortable environment and higher cooling demands.

Coating Application

Ganzkuhl® Premium Grade was selected for the project. The concrete slab surfaces were thoroughly cleaned using high-pressure water jetting to remove dust and debris. Two coats of Ganzkuhl® Base Coat were applied by brushing, followed by a single coat of the Top Coat after the base coat had fully dried. The application process adhered to the recommended guidelines, and the coated surfaces were left to cure for 24- 48 hours under sunlight to ensure optimal performance.

Post-Coating Temperature Readings

After the coating had cured, temperature measurements were taken under similar peak summer conditions. The results showed a significant reduction in surface emperatures, dropping to 44°C to 45°C. This decrease of approximately 20-21°C demonstrated the exceptional reflectivity and emissivity of Ganzkuhl® PDRC Coating, effectively cooling the concrete slabs and creating a more comfortable environment for guests and staff.

Conclusion

The application of Ganzkuhl® PDRC Coating at Aalankrita Resorts proved highly effective in reducing surface temperatures on concrete slabs, transforming sun-exposed event venues and guest areas into cooler, more inviting spaces. The temperature reduction from 65-66°C to 44-45°C enhanced guest comfort, improved operational efficiency, and contributed to energy savings by reducing the need for mechanical cooling. This project underscores Aalankrita Resorts’ commitment to sustainability and guest satisfaction, with Ganzkuhl® providing a reliable, eco-friendly solution for heat management in hospitality settings.
